Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

The smallest state in Australia ACT is home to the Australia's capital city Canberra. ACT is located in the South East of Australia and is home to the Anzac War Museum. New South Wales

Australias most populated state and home to its largest city Sydney which is famous for its harbour bridge and opera house. New South Wales is located in the south east of Australia, north of Victoria and south of Queensland. New South Wales has a population of around 6.5 million people and is seen as the most important state economically as a large chunk of national income comes from live stock based in the area.

 

 

New South Wales contains over 750 national parks and reserves that cover around 8% of the entire state. These parks have extremely diverse eco systems ranging from rainforests, bush and marine parks which include World Heritage sites. If you looking for beaches then New South Wales has plently including the famous Bondi Beach and the tourist hotspot Byron Bay.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory covers much of the centre of the mainland continent as well as a very large portion of the central regions.
The Nothern Territory shares borders with South Australia to the south, Western Australia to the west and Queensland to the east.
Dispite it size being over 520,000 square miles The Northern Territory has a very small population of only 220.000.

 

Tourist areas in the Northern Territoy include its capital city Darwin, Kakadu National Park and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park home of Ayers Rock.

Queensland

Australias second largest state behind Western Australia Queensland is nicked named the 'sunshine state' because of its high temperatures and all year round good weather. Queenslands largest city is its capital Brisbane but its most famous attraction is The Great Barrier Reef one of the 7 wonders of the world.

 

 

South Australia

South Australia covers some of the most arid parts of the continent and is capital city is Adalaide with a population of around 1.1 million people.

 

 

Tazmania

Tasmania is an island and state located around 240km off the south coast of the state of Victoria. Tazmaina is the 26th largest island in the world and has a estamated population of around 500,000 people with the bulk located in the states capital city Hobbart.

 

 

Victoria

Victoria is located in the south east corner of Australia. Although Victoria is Australias smallest state apart from ACT is is vastly populated with over 5 million people.

 

 

Melbourne is Victoria's captial city and contains some of Australia's most well known landmarks such as The Rod Laver Stadium home of the Australian Tennis Grand Slam Championships and Albert Park which stages the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Twelve Apostles are victorisa most well known landmark which are a collection of limestone rocks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park.
